Wed-Thur - 9/3-9/4(Noon-6PM; 7:30AM-1PM) - Join the battle against cancer at the Red Cross blood drive at Pottorf Hall in CiCo Park in Manhattan. Mon - 9/4(9:30AM-11:30AM) - The Abilene Christian Women’s Club brunch will be Thursday, September 4th at 9:30 a.m. at the Abilene Elks Club, 417 North West 4th Street in Abilene. Admission is $4.00 which covers admission and a meal. This meeting will be for the purpose of honoring women with military connections. Featured speaker will be Melanie Golightly from Lenexa, Kansas. Fri - 9/5 - Entries for the Kansas Department of Transportation's "Put the Brakes on Fatalities" poster contest are due. Kids ages 5 to 13 are encouraged to enter artwork for "Put the Brakes on Fatalities Day," a nationwide effort to reduce traffic fatalities. Eighteen regional winners will receive a bicycle and helmet. Three statewide winners will receive family packages to the Courtyard Marriott in Junction City, the Capitol Plaza in Topeka, and the Grand Prairie Hotel/ Convention Center in Hutchinson, as well as $50 gas cards. Sat - 9/6(9:30-11:30AM) - Abundant Harvest Community Church of the Nazarene invites kids of all ages to their first annual Bicycle Round Up and Parade at Lemon Park in Pratt. Every biker will ride in a parade around the park. There will be prizes, a chuck wagon hot-dog lunch, a special cowboy speaker, and fun for everyone. Sat - 9/6(5-7PM) - The Hope Lions Club will hold their annual Hog/Turkey Roast at the First National Bank Annex and Community Center. Proceeds will fund community improvement projects. The hog/turkey roast will be held in conjunction with the "Add a Little Hope to Your Life" annual Heritage Festival.

Wed - 9/17(7PM) - Faith Assembly of God, 905 W. Cloud in Salina, is starting a "Fireproof Your Marriage" Bible study based on the soon to be released movie "Fireproof." This study is not just for married couples! Topics include appreciating the differences between men and women, God's love for us and how it enables us to love others, and marriage as a lifelong covenant.

Those eligible for FSA assistance should apply at the FSA County Office, 18 E. 7th Ave., South Hutchinson, between the hours of 8AM and 5PM, Monday through Friday.
